If you are a home owner and have been neglecting to do your end-of-year chores you might want to get those started! If you haven’t gotten started or are finding it tough to find a spark, then look no further! We have compiled a short list to help you get jumpstarted and done with your end-of-year list of things to do!
If you are in an area that has a lot of trees, you might want to take a look in your houses’ drainage system and/or gutters for any kinds of blockages! Sometimes leaves from Autumn can linger around inside of gutters and cause big problems later in January and February! If you have any exposed water faucets or piping outside you should cover these up as well, an economical way to do so would be with an old towel or with a few layers of trash bags!
If you get a lot of snow each winter you should also take a good look at your roof for any kinds of damage, and if you don’t feel up to the task you can find someone to inspect your roof—but remember to ask companies that do inspections, and try to stay away from ones that sell roofs since they will say almost anything warrants a new roof! But, if your roof is compromised in any way you might run into big issues when the snow starts to build-up on it later on in the winter!
If you have any decorative potted plants be sure to check if they can stay outside and handle the weather! If you find that some of your plants won’t survive the cold, simply move them to a spot inside your house that gets good sunlight and keep them there until the weather gets warm again! Having plants in your house during the winter is great, and you might even want to keep them there even when the season is done!
