Each year for a short period of time, the United States’ federal government opens up the ability for everyone to attain health insurance for themselves and their families! While it is a great benefit for all of us, it can be confusing! In today’s blog entry, we will be going over the most commonly asked questions regarding Open Enrollment! 

What Is Open Enrollment?

Open Enrollment is a period of time each year in which you can sign-up for health insurance, or  make changes to your current insurance plan! It is part of the Obamacare Bill passed by the United States government to help people be able to get health insurance with relative ease!  

When is Open Enrollment? 

Open Enrollment is available from November 1st, 2021 to January 15th, 2022! If you do not sign-up during this period you will be unable to get health insurance unless you have a qualifying event such as: a marriage, having a child, getting a new job, or moving!

Why When I Have Health Insurance Do I Still Pay Out-of-Pocket?

If you have health insurance and are going to a doctor that is within your network and is approved by your insurance you won’t have to pay out-of-pocket unless you have a deductible! But any procedure outside of your insurance carrier’s approval, you will have to pay out-of-pocket! If you do not want to have a deductible or don’t want to pay out-of pocket you can request to have an insurance plan that can fill those needs!
